Carrying on with the campaign of ANZ to reinforce the Silver Ferns as formidable strong-willed athletes, I threw a few words into an idea box and quickly realized that most of the words that came to mind were words generally associated with the raw traits of animals admired in the wild. Hence the idea of spirit animals came about. Sky Sports Department just recently added a massive 5 metre screen to their studio setup and throwing ideas around with Steve Shields, the props builder at Sky, I thought of experimenting with shooting the screen as a backdrop. I quickly threw an image in the screen of a bird that i had downloaded off the net and the look was quite impressive. Thus the concept was born. We shot some of the Netball team against the backdrop and what came out was like nothing Sky had ever tried before in-house. Made for a fun day shooting the Silver Ferns plus we got a mean product in the end.
