I was commissioned by Te Amokura Productions to create a GFX package for a docu-series on a grassroots Māori company entering the medicinal cannabis industry. We discussed the look of gritty, earthy, and textured. There was one component though that they liked, and that is the growth of a seed to plant of cannabis. There was nothing online that came close to what we needed and logistics would prove difficult for shooting timelapse. So I experimented on making a timelapse looking animation of a plant in 3D. I did a bit of testing in C4d and finally came up with a solution to the problem. For the endframe, Fiona of Te Amokura had a clever twist to turn the title 'Growing Dope' text to 'Growing Hope' which was a nice touch. They had a kick-ass theme composed that really tied everything together quite beautifully.
