When MTS approached us for a design package for a new talk show that features diff personalities spanning diff subjects called Mataora (tatooing instrument) we immediately went to work with conceptualizing an idea that would touch on the Moko (Face Tattoo) and represent life in general. After throwing ideas around with Craig Parkes (producer) we thought what better way to do it than to make a Face tattoo come to life. Surface projection was a big thing this time so i i thought why not project a tattoo on a face that animates. Craig went to work researching how best to do this as conventional projectors would project too big. This is how we stumbled across pico projectors, no bigger than the palm of your hands but way capable of projecting hi-res images. This was one of those projects where the concept and problem-solving was a tiny bit more satisfying than the actual shooting and creation. No better feeling than when the stars align and give you what you want!
